This clock took my breath away when I opened the box...unlike so many things these days it's made of solid wood (I haven't wound it yet...as it's a Christmas gift to myself...have to wait). The craftsmanship is old-world and the heft bespeaks its quality. What a great price to boot. I'm an antiques lover but wanted to invest in a newer clock as it's so expensive getting old clocks tuned and/or fixed. This clock fits right in to my ca. 1924 Colonial Revival interior. Bracket Clock in a Light Oak Finish with a Quartz Triple Chime Movement

My husband and I are extremely pleased with the Hermle Austen Clock (we chose the Cherry finished case, with the quartz movement). We researched for some time before deciding on this chiming, mantle clock by Hermle. First, the quality is excellent, with a German-made movement and an American-made case. Also, the Cherry finish is perfectly even, and the brass dial and handle are lovely, subtle tones. Just as important, the chimes sound wonderful -- almost as though we were in London and hearing Big Ben from a distance (there are 3 options for the sound of the chimes, we use Westminster).
