Fossil

Ptychopariida is a large, heterogeneous order of trilobite containing some of the most primitive species known. The earliest species occurred in the second half of the Lower Cambrian period. Trilobites have facial sutures that run along the margin of the glabella and/or fixigena to the shoulder point where the cephalon meets the thorax. These sutures outline the cranidium or the main, central part of the head that does not include the librigena (free cheeks).

This genuine Metacanthina Issoumourensis Trilobite Fossil is from the Devonian Age (roughly 400 million years ago) and was found in Morocco.  Trilobites form one of the earliest known groups of arthropods. *Stock photo shown. Museum quality, 5" tall stone containing many small ammonite fossils. The ammonites are of the species Promicroceras marstonense and are Lower Jurassic (~200 million years old) in age. The piece has been painstakingly prepared with mechanical tools to expose all of the individual ammonite fossils on one side. Ammonites were predatory mollusks that resembled a squid with a shell. These cephalopods had eyes, tentacles, and spiral shells. They are more closely related to a living octopus, though the shells resemble that of a nautilus. True ammonites appeared in the fossil record about 240 million years ago. The last lineages disappeared 65 million years ago at the end of the Cretaceous.

This large fossil plate is incredibly unique, featuring a long Diplomystus dentatus along with two Cockerellites (Priscacara) liops, fossilized in its natural matrix. The entire piece has been backed with wood for stability and convenient display. This piece was found from the Green River Formation in WyomingApprox. Weight: 30 , Dimensions: 29 x 1.5 x 30 inches

Creating a sculpture from an innovative material that looks like an artifact is no small feat. Making it so interesting that it will look just as smashing in a contemporary home as it will in a traditional one is even more of a challenge. The fact that we’ve lived up to both is why we say that the ethos of the Phillips collection brand is modern and organic. Made of composite in a charcoal stone finish, the colossal charcoal stone C cast stone sculpture will convincingly declare you’ve snapped it up from an archaeological dig and placed it in that perfect spot to make a statement. We offer a number of sculptures and seats in our Formations collection, each of which is weather-worthy for placing out of doors.

It's a fascinating decorative object that adds character and depth to any interior. Whether displayed on a bookshelf or as a centerpiece on a coffee table, its presence is sure to captivate. As its namesake suggests, these coasters emphasize its natural, organic shape. Its wipe-down acrylic surface with cork backing means that it's easy to care for too!

Love these. They’re not as heavy as I anticipated, but the style is so unique. A very nice touch, I’m so excited to use them! Great quality overall.. Kelsey. Houston, TX. Wed Jan 29 2025

This is a beautiful trilobite (Zlichovaspis rugosa) from Atchana, Morocco. It is laid out nice and prone with excellent detail including visible eye facets in both eyes.Trilobites are an extinct class of marine arthropods that thrived for nearly 270 million years, from the early Cambrian to the end of the Permian period (around 521 to 252 million years ago). They are one of the most successful and diverse groups in the history of life. Known for their distinctive, segmented exoskeletons, trilobites provide invaluable insights into the evolutionary history of arthropods and the dynamics of ancient marine ecosystems.Weight: 1.5 lbs, Size: 6.5 x 2 x 4 inches

Trilobites, an early arthropod relative of spiders, horseshoe crabs, and scorpions, preserved in this level of detail only occurred as a result of very sudden underwater landslides called turbidite sequences, which ravaged the early earth when the continents were still very much on the move. The contorted body positions of the trilobites demonstrate a final fight against being buried alive.Notice the many eye facets present on this example. The Asteropyginae recently have undergone revision. This one has been known in the past as Metacanthina, an entirely different trilobite. This one has many fine details present, including pustules on the genals. This one has been prepared in a reflexed position, making a striking display.Middle Divonian: 400 MYOWeight: 224 grams, Size: 2.5 x 1.75 x 2.75 inches

The contorted body positions of the trilobites demonstrate a final fight against being buried alive. This is an extremely ornamented member of the trilobites' extremely well-known and globally distributed Lichid family. These trilobites have adapted for extreme defensiveness. Their long genal appendages afford them controlled escape from the water column, and they used them to sink to the ocean floor mimicking falling organic debris to escape predators. The stalked eyes, which evolved several separate times in the trilobite lineage, afforded greater lookout ability through they still maintain their compound lenses.

This genuine Megalodon Shark Tooth, sourced by divers in waters off Indonesia, is 100% genuine and measures approximately 7" long. Megalodon was an prehistoric shark from the Miocene and Pliocene Periods that may have been 40 feet (12m) long or more. (There are a few scientists who estimate it could have been up to 50 to 100 feet long -15.5 to 31m long) This is at least two or three times as long as the Great White Shark. This specimen is a genuine Megalodon shark tooth that was found in Indonesia. This pre-historic tooth makes a perfect gift for any collector. Each tooth comes in a display case with a Certificate of Authenticity. *You will receive the exact object in these photos. Weight: 3 lbs, Dimensions: 7.5 x 2 x 7 inches

This alien-looking trilobite, known as Ceratarges ziregensis, has a strikingly otherworldly appearance. It's difficult to believe that this creature once roamed the ancient seas. Fossilized ammonite half which reveals the internal chambers lined with calcite crystals. The ammonite has been internally replaced by calcite with small areas showing its original mother-of-pearl iridescent outer shell. This is a complete ammonite sliced and polished to expose the internal cavities now lined with calcite microcrystals. These pieces are from the Late Cretaceous age (about 70 -75 million years). This 3-piece set of bird statues combines the bold look of stone with abstract carvings to create a curated, cool-casual look we love. Each statue features a piece of solid wood that's hand-carved by artisans. The clean-lined silhouette reminds us of old-fashioned whittled wood, and the two finish different choices let you set the tone. Each piece stands at three different heights and is supported on a curvy wire stand. For the base, you get to choose between jagged-edged rocks or dome-shaped natural wood bases – so the look and feel is totally up to you.

Really like the look of them and they could jive with several decorating styles. *They are tall! Make sure you measure for where you plan to put them.”. Russell. US. Wed Nov 06 2024
