We hung ours from a tree. In the rain, in the sun, it works and looks good. It was a bit pricey so I don't know if I would order it again, but it is definitely weather resistant and looks just like the photo. No fading, no peeling. This is more of an issue for All Modern and their lack of details on the specification page. This fixture is beautiful however, it comes with a very long rod already assembled making it difficult to adjust during the installation. We intend to hang this light from the canopy above our porch and the 31" rod makes it set far too low. We will have to take the fixture apart, cut and re-thread the extension rod and reassemble in order to make this a useful fixture. If the description had included this information I would not have ordered the light. It is custom made and non-returnable so I am stuck with it. I am building a new house and spending tens of thousands of dollars on line ordering lighting, fixtures, furniture etc. I will be unlikely to use All Modern again as I cannot trust that their descriptions are accurate. Concealed LEDs located at the rear of the curve serve to highlight the gently curved form of the fixture as an absence of light.

Although the design is in honor of traditional Japanese stone lanterns, our Tourou 1-bulb 16.6" H mains-only outdoor pendant is much easier to hang from a chain outside your home or business. Metals bands crisscross and hug the square glass tube for design flare.

My ceiling height is 14 feet. The matching chain arriving with the fixture was only one foot long. There was no mention of chain lenth in product description. There is no supplied hardware to attach chain at either end. I had to buy additional chain and hardware to connect the chain at both ends, spray paint all to match the fixture. Customer service at Hubbardton was of little assistance.They would sell me a custom length of chain, without attaching hardware..
