Beloved for its sophisticated simplicity, versatility, and durability, Lastra is our bestselling collection. The Lastra 4-piece place setting is a wonderful starter kit for a Lastra collection. Lastra’s design was inspired by the circular wooden slabs used for centuries to create the outer mold in cheesemaking throughout Italy. When fashioned together with twine, the hoop was left with a slight overlap to help maintain the shape of the cheese mold. Maestro molder Stefano Roselli incorporates the overlapping detail into the entire design, from its foot to its rim. A dark dusting on the edges of each piece suggests the ash that was used to preserve these cheeses and highlights each unique silhouette.

Stoneware has a long legacy in the area and maintains its place of importance in the region today. Signor Stefano Roselli is the master molder for a stoneware cooperative located in a small town seven miles outside of Florence, and he is the creator of this collection. Vietri has worked with Stefano and factory owner Franco Ammannati for close to 15 years, creating and bringing to market dinnerware collections, vases, urns, and other home decor products.
When I first saw these, I knew I wanted them for accenting my current dinnerware for the holidays. I was given a few pieces as a gift so I immediately went online to purchase more to add to my collection.
