Bokara Rug Co., Inc.
A luxurious rug design, hand-knotted using the finest of material to create a look and feel that will enhance any room.
Made with hand-knotted wool circa 1960-1970, this 7x10 vintage rug from Turkey is believed to be the work of mid-century Turkish artist Zeki Müren. It’s a rare and exciting new curation from Rug & Kilim’s Mid-Century Pasha Collection—a collection devoted to Müren’s remaining and inspired works in our craft today. On the Design: A teal green and blue tone underscores ripple-like ovular geometric patterns, flowing from the center out in burgundy and brown tones. Admirers of the craft will appreciate this rug among Müren’s select works with a more reserved palette, and how his use of bold figures and unexpected colors stands out both among works of the period and even among modern rugs roday. Few ateliers could create such a smart sense of depth and dimensionality in such a reserved way, and this piece is exemplary of that beauty, as well as the many others that speak to Müren as a master of his craft. Condition: This vintage Zeki Müren rug further enjoys great condition for its age and origin, as well as full pile—an extremely collectible find among his works both designers and curators in high-end rugs will appreciate today.
This 10x13 antique Agra rug is an extremely rare and exciting new addition to Rug & Kilim’s collection of rugs—hand-knotted in wool and believed to originate in the second half of the 19th century. On the Design: Teal blue and beige tones underscore an elaborate all over pattern, with a notable black inner border and rich burgundy accents punctuating both field and border alike. Admirers of the craft may especially appreciate this rug’s notable inspiration from Islamic texts of Mamluk Egypt. The entire design itself looks to adapt the imagery of a Qu’ran in this style, wherein the many intricate borders, cartouches and floral patterns resemble those of a traditional frontispiece in this provenance. Keen eyes will further admire an inscription of the words ”yasmuhu illah”—loosely meaning “God allows'' though the full except it draws on in the Qu’ran would read “touched by none except angels.” Altogether it’s a piece as deeply personal in its subtext as it is in the details and beauties that distinguish it in our craft—both a masterpiece and a true collector’s rug, teeming with history and culture.Condition:This antique rug further enjoys good condition for its age and origin, with minimal wear following minor restorations.
