The microphone on my android phone and my iPad is on the top, not the bottom and then following the video I tried to make it work from the bottom and it was never going to work, also, you have to make sure your volume is way up and then there is no issue setting anything on this clock alarm clock. I am also going to write to the company and apologize because it was my mistake not theirs if you want a really beautiful thing by your bedside to make you smile every day this is well worth the money , but I am only giving it four stars because they do give you video guidance setting up the app but show the phone they are using w microphone on bottom. This clock took my breath away when I opened the box...unlike so many things these days it's made of solid wood (I haven't wound it yet...as it's a Christmas gift to myself...have to wait). The craftsmanship is old-world and the heft bespeaks its quality. What a great price to boot. I'm an antiques lover but wanted to invest in a newer clock as it's so expensive getting old clocks tuned and/or fixed. This clock fits right in to my ca. 1924 Colonial Revival interior. I'm really happy with the clock. The reason I gave it 4 stars, rather than 5 is because when I placed it on my shelf I saw it wasn't level. When I turned it upside down, I noticed that the protective strips covered the whole leg on one side & only partially covered the other leg, leaving it wobbly.
