After graduating from Carnegie Mellon University in 1998, Blakely Bering put her studies in costume and set design to direct use by working in opera design and television production around the United States, before returning to her home of Texas. Transitioning from large-scale design to fine art was seamless and natural for her. Painting figurative abstractions and “Blooms” at first, Blakely’s art evolved into pure abstraction. Experimenting with techniques, mediums, and styles; the “Oil slick” developed in 2006, recognized as Blakely’s classic style. Reflecting on her theatrical sense, the artwork is powerful from thirty feet away. Inspired by her love of cooking, Blakely combines oils, powdered pigments, crushed metals, and secret ingredients, from scratch, to create her own paint mixtures. Her work is known not only for its beauty and sense of frozen movement but for its sustained ability over time.

The artist, D’Alessandro Leon, was the youngest of three brothers. When art competitions were a form of play for the brothers, it later grew to his obsession. D’Alessandro attended the Art Institute of California where he explored mixing mediums as well as digital. He also attended illustration, Sculpting and Fine Art workshops. After spending long periods of time studying different techniques, D’Alessandro’s art became increasingly influenced by artists from the early 1900s. During D’Alessandro’s studies, he painted many different themes. He painted with restless intensity, often painting from morning until night. Artist Victor Ryan is based in Anaheim, California. He has been drawing and painting since he was a child and recounts some of his childhood memories of comic books and cartoons to his work. Victor continued his art education throughout his school years by attending the Art Institute in Laguna Beach as well as Cal State Fullerton. As an artist that enjoys working with oils and acrylics, some main themes that can be explored in Victor’s work relate to childhood youth and fantasy.
