Lord Ganesha is the god of wisdom and knowledge. This deity is very popular in India and is represented here in an oil lamp for offerings (Diya) inspired by Hindu religious traditions and iconography.

Ketut Seji, wife of the late Balinese artisan Seji Taram, preserves her husband's legacy in this carving of a seated Buddha. Buddha's head rests upon his hands, and a faint smile plays across his lips. The serene figurine is carved and finished by hand, and signed by Ketut Seji.

Buddha embodies compassion and wisdom, and the Buddha sculpture is a reminder for all of us to love and care. “Present Mindfulness” is a set of three Buddhas: Amitabha Buddha, Shakyamuni Buddha, and Medicine Buddha, representing the past, the present, and the future of cultivating peace. They remind us that the past is understood through learning, and the present is understood through cultivation. This gives us a grasp of the future and releases us from apprehension. Medicine Buddha, though, is named for his healing power to eradicate illness of life and death, but he not only cures all beings of their bodily pain and disease but also heals their incomplete hearts and minds. Praying to Medicine Buddha is for healing and good health.

More than 2500 years ago, Buddha, the enlightened one, was born on the border of Nepal and Bihar. Endowed with infinite spiritual strength and a universal kindness, Buddha became aware that there is a compromise between the vain pleasures of life and bitter renunciation. He developed the philosophy of Buddhism based on the four noble truths related to the universality of suffering, its origins, its annihilation, and the spiritual way to reach that point. Made of re-polished crystal with a satin finish, the Buddha features generous curves and a kind smile. The beauty of the design is enhanced by the artisan's manual work of crystal.

A mother's love is often compared to the boundless acceptance embodied by Guanyin Buddha. The gentle glow of moonlight, representing compassion, blankets the earth and touches every child's heart, serving as a constant reminder of the selfless love and dedication that our mothers have bestowed upon us. An incense could Immerse the body and soul in a tranquil, restful and unclouded space, this is a great gift during Mother’s Day to find a serene moment for herself. In the “Heart Sutra”, Guanyin, referred to as Guanzizai, is a teaching, self-reflection and a salve for the body and soul. Some ancient philosophies, through the passage of time, see an evolution of core values and adapt to the times. To be free, loosen your grip, and release the self, desire and worry. Guanyin’s hair is fashioned in a high knot and draped in flowing fabric with a small Buddha on top. Guanyin sits with a placid expression, full cheeks and a baihao (白毫) marking their forehead. Eyelids slightly lowered, Guanyin sits upright with a slight smile, wearing an intricately sculpted draped robe. At ease, Guanyin is adorned with an yingluo (瓔珞) necklace across its chest. This gentle and compassionate feminine portal of Guanyin is in classic Han Buddhist imagery. Keep Guanyin at one’s side at all times to encourage clarity and compassion.

This High Porcelain limited edition brings a revered goddess to life, recreating a novel color scheme of healing light, which releases ¨she who hears the lament of the world¨. According to a common Chinese belief, Kwan Yin lives on the island of Pu-to-shan, where her temple is surrounded by a lake of violet light which cures the ailments of all who bathe in its waters. It is said she will not rest until all human beings are freed from their suffering. The image of the goddess is decorated with innovative colors such as hues of purple and mauve and the metallic gold and aged silver of the forest flowers, never before used in a Lladró piece. For the remainder of the piece, hues in a harmonious green and yellow color scheme have been employed.

Water-moon Guanyin, one of the thirty-three manifestations of the bodhisattva Guanyin (Avalokitesvara), exudes a sense of perfect peace and inner freedom. Adorned with a necklace of precious stones, Guanyin wears a crown holding an image of the Buddha Amitabha, of whom she is an emanation, serving as a constant reminder of her mission in the world. Sitting leisurely on a wave-live rock, her right arm rests on her right knee, as is customary for this traditional image. Her stole gracefully flows down her right arm and merges with the base. In the Buddhist scriptures, the moon reflected in the water is used to represent the insubstantiality of what appears to be substantial, indicating that everything in the world is formed by the combination of causes and conditions—the doctrine of emptiness. Having thoroughly realized the true nature of reality, Guanyin uses her boundless wisdom and compassion to bring all sentient beings to the same realization, so as to let go of all attachment and enjoy perfect peace. The gently flowing contours of the glossy base invoke the image of a placid body of water. The gradually thinner layers of glass forming the concave section of the base reflect the light of various qualities, producing a captivating aesthetic effect. An ingenious combination of design and workmanship, this unique three-dimensional Water-moon Guanyin takes glass sculpture to new heights.

This piece belongs to Loretta H. Yang’s signature series “Formless, But Not Without Form,” which is based on the Diamond Sutra and her personal insights into life. The natural color vein patterns and bubbles formed in the glass during the production process are used to convey the Buddhist concept of impermanence. Understanding the evanescent nature of all phenomena makes life seem like a tiny bubble in a translucent universe, ushering in the unbounded freedom that comes with the transcendence of both being and nonbeing. In view of the impermanence of life, every moment is precious. With the wisdom of “signlessness” we come to see that attachment to any aspect of conditioned phenomena is the root cause of all suffering; overcoming this discrimination engenders insight into the nonduality of self and other, underscoring our connection with all living beings. Yang has developed a glasswork technique which gives full expression to the richness of Eastern philosophy. Inspired by the cardinal virtues of wisdom and compassion, and utilizing an artistic language which combines substance and emptiness, her work reflects the passage in the Diamond Sutra which reads, “All conditioned things are like a dream, an illusion, a bubble, a shadow.” This piece was produced using a combination of lost-wax casting (pâte de verre) and hot-pour casting. First, a Buddha image formed through pâte de verre is heated and placed within a sand mold. Next, molten glass is poured into the same mold, sealed, and left to set. The result is a chimerical image enclosed in transparent glass, producing a poetic effect suggestive of the ephemeral nature of the world. In 2017 this piece was acquired by the Museum of Decorative Arts (Musée des Arts Décoratifs) in Paris, becoming the first acquisition of Chinese glass art in its century-old collection. More than merely the masterful execution of the lost-wax casting technique, each piece produced by Yang is a manifestation of her sense of mission, philosophy of life, and insight into the teachings of Buddhism.

This glasswork interpretation of the ancient scriptures of “Ashtamangala” or “Eight Offerings”, depicts the symbol of a pair of golden fish. On his path to enlightenment, Gautama Buddha was offered this sign, symbolizing the clarity and wisdom of all sentient beings. Across multiple religions and cultural narratives, the fish holds auspicious symbolism and carries with it immense fortune and meaning. In the “Eight Auspicious Offerings” mini-series, these sculptures are carved in low relief and radiate with auspicious golden-amber energy.

This artistic rendition of a vase symbol comes from the “Ashtamangala” or “The Eight Fortunes”. The artwork here is among eight others in the mini-series “Eight Auspicious Offerings” that alludes to ancient literature endemic to Buddhism as well as Jainism and Hinduism. The vase itself incorporates the message of infinite lessons and teachings in life and represents the luck of longevity, wealth, health, and wisdom. In glasswork interpretation, the art piece radiates an illuminating aura of golden amber, carved in exquisite details of low relief. Like the gentle sun’s warmth loyally and steadfastly rising to greet the horizon of the morning. Breath baited with the hope and anticipation of a new day and all the possibilities it can bring. Amber light rays slowly disperse and spread across the earth. Warming and welcoming her companion. The crystal lotus in feng shui is known to assist in reversing the tide of negative energy and misfortune while promoting inner serenity and contentment. The lotus, called ‘Lian Hua’ in Chinese, is one of the eight symbols of the Ashtamangala. All symbols of Ashtamangala represent aspects or ideas behind enlightenment and are commonly used to convey various modalities and concepts. Using the crystal lotus in feng shui is also said to help to promote healthy and balanced family relationships within the home. In feng shui, it is recommended to place your crystal lotus sculpture in a central room for the greatest result, specifically in the living room. It can also be placed adjacent to or near a window to channel the light and positive energy that flows and exists always around and surrounding us like the warm embrace and caring arms of a loved one. “The lotus flower blooms most beautifully from the deepest and thickest mud” – Buddhist Proverb.

Cave-dwelling Guanyin, one of the thirty-three manifestations of the bodhisattva Guanyin (Avalokitesvara), looks over and protects all sentient beings. In India, the rock represents the origin of the universe and all the life it contains. Guanyin is seated on a rough crag, representing the hardship and challenges met on the long path to awakening; the lotus in her right hand represents the freedom from all defilement which is the defining feature of one who has completed the journey to enlightenment. Her benign and serene countenance, downward-gazing eyes, and concise halo convey her bright and effulgent heart and mind. The rough-hewn texture of the upper part of the base is based on the Gongbi realist technique in Chinese painting, in juxtaposition with the polished lower section. Seemingly meditating in the moonlight, this stout-figured Guanyin wears a crown of flowers and a jeweled necklace and has a pious countenance suggesting solemnity and tranquility. In the East, the lotus is the traditional symbol of perfect purity and supreme enlightenment.

Wondrous Illumination originates from the Shuiyue Guanyin. Guanyin sits casually with flowing robes, wearing a Ying Luo across the breast and a top knot. Head lowered in silent contemplation, a picture of peaceful tranquility. Guanyin is backlit by a mountainous background. The central sphere is like a pure moon upon which Guanyin reclines, illuminated. The “stone” is composed of layers of light, one gentle one unyielding, creating a visual juxtaposition. The backlit surface symbolizes a great awakening. The highest state in Buddhism, “becoming Buddha”, is actually “enlightenment” and truth. The essence of enlightenment is illumination. The sculpture is as steady as the mountain. The background also represents an abstract flower, the realization that all life is originally nonexistent. The flower of wisdom blooms from compassion and harmony.

This is a Guanyin figurine inspired by the Hechang Guanyin (Clasped Palm Guanyin). Clasped palms are used to center the mind, show reverence, and display resolve to release the world from suffering. As this miniature Buddha figurine leans forward in an expression of compassion for all beings, a brilliant halo emanates from her head in concentric circles. Her robe falls around her like gentle water in harmony with the abstract pedestal forming the base of this piece of Buddha décor. The whole crystal Buddha figurine is suffused with shimmering brightness and tranquility.
