Tundra is an original design by artist Oiva Toikka from 1970. Inspired by the harsh Tundra wilderness, Toikka created a pattern that includes multiple small designs. The result is a delicate, intriguing surface that creates a compelling entity with the glass design. The 25 cl Tundra bowl is ideal for starters, desserts, or breakfast. Each Tundra item is made at the Iittala glass factory in Finland. The Tundra collection makes a beautiful gift for design-loving friends.

The Kastehelmi dewdrop serving bowl that Toikka originally designed in 1964 was also the outcome of a technical challenge. To celebrate Toikka's 50th, iittala reintroduced a selection of the most popular pieces in the range in the year 2010. The idea of using droplets of glass as decoration came to Toikka when he was thinking of ways of covering the joint marks left on the surface of pressed glass pieces by the production process.

These stackable glass bowls are absolutely beautiful! I did look on La Rochere website regarding dishwasher and microwave safety, just to be sure. The answer I read was that they are completely dishwasher safe, but recommended only safe in the microwave for a max of 60-90 seconds (so essentially not recommended).
