Finnish design pioneer Oiva Toikka’s iconic collection of Iittala glass birds first took flight in 1972. Combining his passion for nature and blown glass art, each bird is unique down to the minute detail. This gives every bird its own personality making it a true one-of-a-kind art object. Mouthblown at the Iittala Glass Factory, the collection embodies a rich fusion of glassmaking traditions and Toikka’s hands-on approach with his team. Created in a rich shade of vivid green, Birds by Toikka Iibis’ underlying opaque glass brings depth to the surface color, while the transparent layer mimics the play of water on the bird’s plumage.
