Scandinavian mid-century design aesthetics and Brazilian modernism meet on the new Brasilia lounge chair and corresponding ottoman, designed for Audo by Anderssen and Voll. Originally imagined for the Audo, the luxurious armchair-lounge chair hybrid offers unparalleled sitting comfort thanks to its robust frame and soft upholstery. "The design was directly inspired by the mood at the Audo. There was something about the setting, wooden sculptures, calm ambiance, and welcoming colors, that made us think of more exotic variations of modernism rather than our own familiar Scandinavian roots," note designers Torbjorn Anderssen and Espen Voll. Made using traditional joinery techniques, the wooden frame is characterized by exaggerated armrests, cylindrical legs at the front, and broad, wooden boards at the back, lending the chair personality and its distinctive look. The cushioning seat and backrest add to the sense of ease. The versatile footrest doubles as a seat for unexpected guests or a resting place for a newspaper or tray.

Together, mutually, in common: The words that define the prefix ‘co-’ are at the heart of our new design. Conceived in collaboration with The Office Group and Norm Architects, the multi-functional chair adapts to a wide range of needs and interior styles. It addresses the space and design challenges shared by spaces both private and public, making it as appealing in homes as in shared areas like conferences, boardrooms, and touch-down co-working lounges. The multi-functional chair addresses the space and design challenges shared by spaces both private and public, making it as appealing in homes as in shared areas like conferences, boardrooms, and touch-down co-working lounges. The chair pairs a lightweight, sleek profile with great seating comfort and the option to stack up to 12 to 15 chairs in a compact tower. Aesthetically, the design's contoured form and warm materials bring Norm Architects' signature, human-centered minimalism to residential and hospitality applications. The design's versatility is the result of a thoughtful construction and a wide array of materials: With numerous veneer finishes and upholstery options to choose from, the chair is easy to customize to create the desired expression and experience. The chair is distinguished by a wide veneer back, whose proportions allow freedom of movement and provide maximum comfort. Comfort also led to the design of the backrest, which is positioned and angled for exceptional support. The chair's slender yet robust powder-coated steel frame defines the intriguing geometric silhouette and delivers high durability. Optional veneer armrests add another aesthetic and functional dimension, serving both for added comfort and for suspending the chair off the floor for easy cleaning.

Defined by an exposed, triangular construction, a gently curved seat and back ideally pitched for relaxation, and distinctive cut-outs for resting the elbows when reading (or, of course, knitting), the Knitting chair affirmed Kofod-Larsen’s reputation as a master of proportion and unexpected, sculptural form. It was put into production, but only as a limited edition. Since then, the elegant, inventive design has become an increasingly valuable and sought-after collector’s item. The Knitting chair is beautiful from every angle, making it easy to place anywhere in a room. Given the chair’s enveloping comfort, it has a relatively small footprint, which makes it an easy fit in compact interiors as well as in more spacious ones. The design also stands out on comfort, the result of Kofod-Larsen’s constant care to ensure ideal angles and lumbar support. The clean, sculptural lines, achieved through the designer’s close work with joiners, and the high-end, natural materials make for an unforgettable, conversation-sparking silhouette. Ib’s furniture was rooted in reality,” says the designer’s son, Jan Kofod-Larsen. He took a lot of pride in his work, and was iterative in the design process, working closely with his manufacturers to get every detail just right. His hope was to create a design that would endure, both functionally and aesthetically. So there is a clear parallel with Audo’s design philosophy: the ideal of keeping the best and leaving the rest. I would have been very happy to see that people continue to appreciate Norm Architects' furniture today. And I think he would have enjoyed Audo’s approach and focus on creating for the future while respecting the past.”

Originally Ingeborg was designed in 1940 by Flemming Lassen. The chair was designed by Master carpenter Jakob Kjær, who manufactured Flemming Lassen's furniture for the Carpenters Guild Annual Furniture Exhibition. The charming little easy chair is named after Flemming and Mogens Lassen's mother, the artist Ingeborg Winding. Ingeborg is a perfect match for the new sofa, called Vilhelm. The sofa is named after the brothers' father Hans Vilhelm Lassen who was a decorative artist. It's a beautiful reunion of Vilhelm and Ingeborg. Despite its petite size, Ingeborg brightens any room with its charm and exclusive style. Ingeborg looks beautiful from all angles. It can be placed anywhere in a room without taking up too much space.

The Knitting side chair by Ib Kofod-Larsen first launched as a limited edition in 1951, makes a triumphant return to the world of modern Danish design under Audo’s concept of "Modernism Reimagined". This is the brand’s first foray into classic furniture. The chair’s sense of proportion and unparalleled quality make it a natural choice to bring into contemporary interiors. The playful nature of the Knitting chair serves to highlight its thoughtful design. Named for the elbow cut-outs that allow maximum comfort while knitting (or reading), the chair is the work of a master designer. The solid walnut frame is CNC milled and treated with a lacquered finish. The seat and backrest are made from curved plywood and upholstered in textile, leather, or sheepskin. Assembly is done by hand.

In 2013 we introduced the first Audo chair ever. A beautiful and simple, four-legged one, designed by Stockholm-based Afteroom. The chair proved to be one of our most popular designs from the Spring 2013 collection, so for Fall 2014 we’re adding another chair to the lineup: The Afteroom stool. The same innovative and clean design as the Afteroom chair, but with longer legs. The tall Afteroom stool is perfect as an extra chair in the kitchen, as the beautiful front row of a bar area, or as the new and striking chairs in the office waiting room. The chairs are both light, comfortable, and durable. Hung-Ming Chen and Chen-Yen Wei get their inspiration from an interest in forms, senses, proportions, materials, and cultures. With a clear and non-compromising aesthetic vision, they take the meaning of simplistic design to a whole new level. The Afteroom stool is a homage to Bauhaus and functionalism. The simplicity of its design combined with the quality of materials is what’s important. We embraced the challenge of designing something minimalistic with clean lines, without in any way compromising its comfort. In that sense, we've ended up with classic Scandinavian features.
