• We do not perform weight load tests, but instead an endurance test. We used to test each chair at the CATAS Institute. The international rule applied is EN 1728:2000 according to EN 15373:2007. Point 6.7 of these rules describe how the test "fatigue resistance of the seat/back" is conducted. This test "fatigue resistance of the seat/back" consists of a simulated use of a product. A "pushing forces" are simultaneously applied on the back for 300 newton - which consists of more or less 30 kg - and on the seat, for 1000 newton - which consists of more or less 100 kg - while the plastic frame of the chair is locked on the floor: all plastic parts of the chair is so "stressed" for 200.000 times. It is like a person using a chair, standing up, and sitting down 200.000 times. International certification bodies suggest that the force applied for this endurance test simulates the use of the chair made by a person weighing 120/130 kg. That being said the average commercial-rated chair's weight capacity is 220 pounds / 250 pounds.
