ALAN MIZRAHI LIGHTING
History comes from far away, in a space where time seems to have stopped. Space still virgin, where nature has kept a pristine aspect, where the earth has held unknown treasures, being in Brazil in our case, or Madagascar, a large island in the Indian Ocean. Rock crystal has always been a precious mineral through the ages; from Antiquity to the Renaissance, it was found in palaces and "cabinets of curiosity" sometimes in their natural state called "Etat Brut," or cut shapes without any other artifice. The vogue of rock crystal became in Renaissance times a favorite among rulers who took pride in showing their best pieces in "Kunstkammer" in Vienna, Austria, Dresden, Germany and Prague, Bohemia. There is no collection without this precious mineral, sometimes decorated with gold, silver, enamel or simply engraved (Treasures of Marco, Sainte-Chapelle in Paris, Medici Chapel in Florence and the collections of King Louis XIV kept in the Gallery in The Louvre Museum in Paris). Cool embers with sparkling moon effects, this precious mineral coming from the depths of the earth, has always been a fascination for man. Rock crystal is praised for its beauty, luminosity and transparency, sometimes opaque like a milky substance, depending on the origins of the minerals: It can be found in Madagascar Brazil or even the Alps, all different, in its transparency. His utilization in contemporary lighting, in our case, gives rock crystal its luminosity and contributes beautifully to a fine decor. One can say that rock crystal is shown at his best in a contemporary design.
Artemide
NH is a simple, versatile, practical appliance that can be laid or suspended. White-blown glass spheres slide along a brushed brass ring, which allows it to take different positions and freely adjust and direct the diffuser. The frame becomes a support, a hook to hang the appliance to the wall, or a handle promoting interaction with light. NH continues research on the dynamic interaction of experience, details, materials, form, and light that Neri & Hu are pursuing with Artemide. The selected materials represent a perfect combination of tradition and innovation, as well as the expression of responsible and sustainable design, also conveyed by the use of a low-consumption retrofit LED source.
