It's a very nice old-school light with heft. It's 32". I did a trial run, from on my picture frame-molding and decided it wouldn't be enough light for the piece 72" across although the light would have gone in the wall about 8 inches closer. It's a well-made light, but also take not there's no dimmer installed so you'd have to add that or plug it into a dimmer. I recommend it though for a piece 50"-60".

Love this plug in picture light. It was large enough for my 4x6 painting and easy to install. I had a smaller one above a mirror and the large one is just as great.
