I have not used it on heat higher than the medium setting on my gas stove and I am using only wooden utensils inside the pot. It has cooked beautifully with no hot spots. The self-basting system consisting of distributed spikes over the whole inside flat lid ensures a continuous rainfall effect over the food inside the cocotte.
