The selector switch on the KBGV Select allows you to choose between brewing a half or full carafe. The brewing speed and hotplate temperature adjust according to your choice, brewing either amount to the golden cup standard. The brew basket automatically stops the flow of coffee when removing the carafe. We have had it for only a few days and do not have any complaints but have a question. The instructions say not to use ROor distilled water. The city water here in College Station TX has a high sodium content consequently makes terrible coffee. We use RO water from a local supplier. We had the smaller unit and used this water. When we moved from GG(treated river water) we have been using the RO for about three years with no ill effects.
