The Couzon company was founded in 1934 by Mr. Jean Couzon. After having started producing stainless steel flatware and hollowware in 1946, the company quickly developed into one of France's undisputed market leaders. The trading brand "Jean Couzon Orfevre", adopted in 1971, was soon recognized on the market thanks to clever advertising and, obviously, fine product quality. In the late seventies and early eighties, the company worked hard to be at the leading edge of progress, not only technologically but in areas such as sales, advertising, and creation as well. The efforts paid off; in 1986 Couzon had over 700 employees and its products were sold with great success.

These knives are dishwasher safe as well as serrated, so they do not need sharpening. The Laguiole design originated in France in the 1820s and is renowned for its curved handle with three rivets and the Napoleonic symbol of L ’Abeille, the bee, on its bolster.

Very pretty, but I was expecting these to feel much more substantial. They don’t have good balance of weight between the blade and handle but they seem to cut fine.. Mary. WA. Tue Mar 17 2026

Inverted blade serration for a prolonged cutting edge. Inverted serration gives you the smooth cut of a fine edge, the blade that will stay sharp over years of use. This high and low serration distributes blade wear and tear, throughout a two-step process; delaying potential dulling. As the larger teeth wear down on hard ceramic surfaces, the smaller teeth remain sharp.

Specially designed with a slot for sharpening blade edges and another for honing them, the block that houses this knife block set is a breakthrough in precision blade maintenance. Other blocks have sharpeners built into every knife slot which can damage blades through over-sharpening. This one enables home chefs to sharpen and hone only when needed and is easy for consumers to use.
