Took the plunge on this when it was on sale and it's gorgeous. Very big, but a quality piece and very elegant. We have it on a dimmer, which adds lovely dimension. We had it professionally installed, but our electrician didn't have too hard a time of it (though it is heavy and took 2 sets of hands at one point). The minimal cruciform structure of the metal frame is the main feature of the design. The frame outlines and supports the inner cylindrical shade. All of the assembly hardware for installing the inner shade was engineered to be hidden in order to maintain the clean and simple aesthetic of the light.

I am very happy with the Cascade sideboard. It looks just like the pictures. It feels solid. There was a minor manufacturer defect when it was delivered. The screws holding the lower right shelf were broken, so the shelf sat freely on the piece but was not fastened down. Ian Thornton designed the Mithra brass table lamp with its powerful brutalist profile. The cast aluminum lamp has all of the attributes that make foundry pieces so special, such as the drifts of stippling on the metal's surface. The antique brass finish highlights the texture to bring the gold lamp the feel of a vintage piece. Thornton was inspired by a mid-century modern sculpture when he designed the Mithra. The honed granite base and the off-white shantung shade are clean-lined elements that leave the sculpture to shine.
