Oushak in Western Turkey has been a powerhouse of decorative carpet production since the early ottoman years dating back to the 14th century. Antique, vintage, or new, these masterpieces have been sought after by interior designers to decorate European and American interiors.
Antique Malayer carpet, country of origin: Persia, Circa 1900– Extraordinarily elaborate throughout, this antique carpet features an exceptionally complex series of borders, as well as an especially intricate Medallion pattern that populates almost the entire field; it is interrupted only by a large medallion that stands in the center – however, this medallion does not interrupt the overall complex nature of the antique oriental rug, as the medallion itself is likewise decorated with a series of fine floral and vine scroll detail elements. Indeed, the entire composition of this antique Malayer carpet is characterized by the complex nature of its detailed work. The six beautifully worked and intriguingly proportioned borders give the carpet a unique quality: for while the entire antique carpet is riddled with beautiful detail work, the eye is still drawn toward these borders and the central medallion. This gives the entire carpet a sense of dynamism and energy. Beautifully woven, this antique formal carpet from Persia is an exciting example.

The Isfahan rugs are made with exceptionally good quality of wool & silk. They use traditional motifs inspired by architectural tiles that once decorated the historical buildings from which these rugs originated in. When it comes to high class designs the composition, patterns, and materials of Isfahan meets those expectations. The motifs usually consist of medallions with palmetts and also figural motifs. Isfahan rugs have an extremely high knot density and are woven with silk and golden threads, which give them their luxurious look.
Originating from East Turkestan between 1920-1940, this antique transitional Khotan rug has a medallion-style field design with key cultural imagery from the region. Hand woven in high quality wool, the medallion field design employs an iconic pomegranate shrub design, symbolizing fertility, abundance, and growth—and the distinct choice of pomegranate red on beige further reflects this imagery. The sharp geometric spandrels at the corners of the field also indicate Oriental influence in the design, as special Khotan weavers have been known to feature Buddhist and Islamic imagery in their rugs.
