Hand-knotted in wool from Turkey circa 1960-1970, a vintage 3'10" x 6'3" art deco rug of iconic lineage, from rug & kilims mid-century pasha collection. Commemorating the collected works of a multidisciplinary Turkish artist of this period, enjoying a creamy beige & ink blue within the luxurious blue border. This particular design is a fabulous portrait, subtly enjoying an almost Chinese deco influence connoting a diverse and joyful attitude the weaver brought to their works. Connoisseurs may note most of the wear is relegated to the border barely visible in the field lending to the collectibility of the sketch. Exceptionally shabby-chic, almost more like art than a rug, a rare full pile piece relishing exclusivity in color & tactility well suited for an array of projects given its good condition.
