To ensure the utmost quality, the raw Ghazni wool is then brought to the western side of Afghanistan around Herat, where it is hand-carted and spun into carpet yarn. The weaving process takes place on traditional floor looms within the weavers' own homes, highlighting the cottage industry-type production. Featuring an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type and a cotton warp and weft, this rug exemplifies the finest in craftsmanship.
