Originating from Romania, this modern transitional wool rug features a French Country modern design, a lesser-known more rustic style with Art Deco sensibilities. Hand knotted in high quality wool, the floral diamond pattern enjoys its own transitional take on vine scroll patterns, portraying them as finely woven purple drawings within the green borders between multi tonal pink diamonds without binding them to the guard borders or fringes as many pieces of its kind do.
This overdyed rug is produced by carpets at least 25-50 years of age. These have been cut into smaller pieces and sewn together in new designs and sizes. Once the rug is complete it undergoes a unique process of color neutralization before being over-dyed in an exciting new color. The result is a mix of traditional Turkish carpet designs fused with a contemporary retro style. Colored vintage carpets may lose some of their initial color characteristics and become even more unique in their look over time.
