Vintage Scandinavian Inspired by Paul Klees Little Drummer Boy Tapestry Rug, origin: Scandinavia, circa: Mid century. Known for his bold use of color and unique theories, Klee juxtaposes expressive, aggressive crimson and impenetrable jet black hues against a soft, sumptuous ivory field. Paul Klees rough, chalky hand-drawn lines are re-built in a luxurious textile medium that retains the artistic textures and nuances of the expressive lines and abstract symbols. Through color and distilled designs, the artist, Paul Klee, illustrates the essence and perpetual momentum of the iconic drummer boy figure in a playful, youthful manner that is expressive, abstract and inherently modern.

This charming modern rya reflects the quintessence of Scandinavian craftsmanship. It was modeled on a modern area rug designed by the great Marianne Richter which she executed in the workshop of Marta Maas Fjetterstrom, and the spirit of both geniuses is visible in every inch of this remarkable fabric. The Swedish shag rug proudly bears the famous sunflower design known as “Solrosen”, with the bold flower head located in the center and its petals gradually spreading out to the edges. The pattern is complemented by a warm and invigorating color palette of rose, hibiscus, burgundy, and orange, paired with mauve, against the ivory background. Although simplistic and bordering on naïve art, the design is actually extremely sophisticated and adjusted to contemporary decorating standards. It has a chance to bring some light and joy to any interior arrangement, from classic to modern. However, the aesthetic side is not the only forte of this fine Swedish-inspired rya rug. Its firm body and the shaggy pile were meticulously hand-knotted of first-rate wool, thanks to which, if properly cared for, it will serve its owners for generations. Lovely and chic, the carpet based on Marianne Richter’s genius design is the answer for those who seek effortless elegance in a timeless dimension. Mid-century Swedish-inspired rug made in India.
