This beautiful antique Mughal shawl is powerful in its color choices and patterning presence. Through the use of the vibrant yellow background, the sunny colors in this happy antique Mughal piece inspire feelings of warmth and happiness, acting as the perfect backdrop to the floral motifs at the center. The bright yellow background, of this beautiful antique textile, casts the flowers at the forefront in an almost natural glow, as if the viewer were about to come across the flowers in the natural world. These perennials are arranged close to each other, a repeating series of rows and columns that are soothing and graceful in their presentation.

The arranged of the field elements also suggests circular medallion like forms in the reserved ivory ground, amplifying the ornamental richness and effect of the piece. The inscription in all four corners of this magnificent antique American coverlet textile states that it was made by John Kachel for Elizabeth Fry in he year 1859.

This stunningly detailed piece was created by hand in the late 17th century and is remarkably well-preserved. Suzani is a word that means needle. They were produced throughout central Asian countries and were usually part of a bridal dowry or special political gifts. This one is from India. Its level of preservation supports that it was only brought out and used for special occasions.

Originating from Turkey between 1880-1890, this antique Sparta rug enjoys a lightly distressed, hand-knotted wool pile throughout an all-over geometric-floral field design. Framed by a unique series of non-mirrored, wrapping brown flower scrolls and an ornate royal blue middle border with highly stylized imagery, the field design uniquely departs from the gentle, curvilinear patterns of the frame for a more finely woven geometric series of blue and beige lotus palmettes (symbolizing rebirth) within a medallion; further distinguished by deep blue branches and mirrored floral emblems against an abrash copper brown background.
