Rug & Kilim
This 3x22 abstract runner represents a new line in 's Homage Collection called the "Dots" design. Hand-knotted in wool, this series explores a bold take on the marriage of depth, color variation, and distressed texture. Further on the Design: Originally pioneered by Lead Designer Nikita Nagpal, this rug recaptures the concept of an 'abstract' rug through more subdued elements. The idea was to create dual sense of movement in the same rug that don't "compete" so much as redefine how movement can be enjoyed in an extra-long runner. Keen eyes will admire the shifting dark blues, forest greens, and ice blues that achieve that unique, brilliant modern sense of movement and depth that sits gorgeous in this shabby elegance texture. The construction is, furthermore, our inventive take on Rustic Modern design, and an easy-to-maintain, comfortable wash with approachable beauty. Custom Capable: Please note all custom orders are subject to a 3-day return policy upon receipt of the CAD, at which point a full refund may be honored. Yarn samples can be made available during the process on loom as well, subject to the 3-day window without prior approval of extension. All custom sales following the approved CAD are final without these exceptions. Further on the Artist: A neo-New Yorker from New Delhi, India, Surface Designer Nikita Nagpal serves R&K in leading both our in-house art department and our remote design department in India, utilizing an extensive background and an equally impressive passion for the industry. An honors bachelor of arts in Fashion Design with an MFA in Fibers from the Savannah College of Art and Design, 2019 marked Nikita as the recipient of the prestigious Red Dot Award for Design Concepts in Material Innovation, the IDA Design Awards, Gold, and a published Finalist in the Dorothy Waxman Textile Design Prize. With multiple bold, pioneering projects under her belt, Nikita believes in the beauty and necessity of Process Art, a builder with a deep love of all things tactile now working directly with Josh Nazmiyal in their common passion for material innovation and creation.

This vintage 3x7 runner is a new addition to ’s Mid-Century Pasha Collection. This line is a commemoration, with rare curations we believe to hail from multidisciplinary Turkish designer Zeki Müren. Hand-knotted in wool circa 1960-1970, its design explores industrial Art Deco sensibilities in a unique fashion for its period. Keen eyes will admire the sheer detail in colorway variation in the geometric pattern—a hallmark of Müren’s rare style. Though polychromatic, this piece favors green and red tones in the many vibrant hues it enjoys. Hand Knotted in wool, this vintage 4x9 Turkish rug, features traditional design with geometric patterns in maximized versions of the rich, time-honored colors. On the Design: Connoisseurs will admire this traditional design with geometric patterns in maximized versions of the rich, time-honored colors they capture (namely the burgundy and brick red tones, which underscore blue, beige-brown and other hues that make up its field and border alike). Admirers of the craft will appreciate the attention to color variation, particularly in the field which lends such beautifully archaic geometric patterns (like these rectangles with ram’s horn detailing) a little more movement and distinction. This is a very personal piece reflecting a special workshop and students of the craft. Condition: This vintage Turkish rug further enjoys great condition for its age and origin, and is ready for the floor.

A Gabbeh is a handmade Persian rug that was traditionally woven by Qashqai and Luri weavers in Iran. These rugs are and were simple, whimsical, or modern in design, often using geometric and stylized human, animal, and plant forms. The word Gabbeh translates closely to unfinished or unclipped. Originally these rugs were woven for the weaver's use with the pile left much longer than normal rugs. They were sometimes used as sleeping rugs. Most of the recent Gabbehs are filled with color with the weaver's creativity being given free rein. There is nothing subtle or understated about them. The beauty of these rugs is their unmistakable uniqueness. I had one Gabbeh with a herd of camels and another with only a few simple trees. I remember one in particular that had wine glasses positioned right next to the humans on the rug! Some Gabbehs will have small animal figures whimsically placed throughout the field. You may see a simple rendition of the Tree of Life design, camels crossing the desert, a stylized sunset, or the colors of the ocean with each rug having its individual qualities. A few of the more daring pieces have no design at all with only wool quality and variegation of color dictating the design elements.
