This piece shows Lord Ganesha, the god of wisdom and knowledge. This deity, very popular in India, is represented here with all the attributes of traditional iconographies, such as the Gada (mace), the pasha (rope), and the broken tusk, elements whose symbolism is reflected in the avatars or traditional stories about Ganesha, well known by its numerous believers.
It is inspired by one of the most important symbols of Sikhism, a monotheistic religion founded by Guru Nanak during the 15th century. Using highly demanding artisan techniques, Lladró can optimize the translucent quality of porcelain and etch scenes on the surface. Like all the other Lladró lithophanes, it includes an LED light with a battery. However, appropriately sized candles can also be used. When switching on the LED or lighting the candle, the transparency of the porcelain brings out the etchings on the surface that are brought out to create a unique magical effect.
