This composition is an homage and a retrospective of sorts. I’ve found so much inspiration from nature, it’s present in almost every piece that I create. Here is my attempt to capture nature in its infinite forms, its infinite colors, its infinite beauty, that I can only begin to grasp. Whether I am traveling the world or creating art for collectors' homes, nature is always driving me, guiding me, and inspiring me.
Serene features characterize these delightful children who grace a set of spoon and fork. Hand carved from sese wood and burnished with mansion polish, these wall sculptures depict brother and sister. Eric Darko names the set Panyin ni Kakra, names given to twins of Ghana's Akan tribe where they are thought to bring good luck. "Panyin" refers to the older, while "Kakra" denotes the younger.

Originally from Yunan in China, Akha people live in Thailand's northern hills. Akha women are well known for their spectacular traditional costumes which include a headdress, a jacket worn over a halter-like garment, a short skirt, a sash with decorated ends, and leggings. Akha artisan Thikaporn is proud to present this stunning headdress, hand-crafted by her own mother, Sadaporn. She adorns the cotton headdress with myriad aluminum beads and pendants, as well as Thai coins dating from 1952 to 1965. Brightly colored beads carved of little leaf boxwood and glass, as well as feathers, complete the stunning design of this headdress.

The Akha people are a proud and timeless culture, struggling to preserve their ancestral values through their traditional skills and knowledge. Akhas believe in continuity and see themselves as a link in the chain of life, which includes birth, procreation, the preservation of the Akha way of life – which venerates family life – and death, seen as a meeting with their ancestors.
A rooster stands proudly atop a bearded blue face in this graceful mask. Fluid in its beauty, the sese wood carving comes from the Guro people of Côte d'Ivoire, where such masks represent the spirits of the underworld. This elegant piece by Salihu Ibrahim symbolizes protection.
