Playing around with shapes is one of the main implements in our tool kit at Phillips collection. In combining the deepest black and natural wood on a slant, as we have with our Geometry natural right wall tile, we’ve created a sophisticated profile that brings organic warmth and contemporary cleanness to space. The surface variations of the woodgrain also bring texture into a room. Hang these singly or combine them for a gallery wall installation for greater punch. We have a wide array of shapes in coffee tables, console tables, and side tables in this collection, as well as tables in a gray finish, and stools and left-slanting wall tiles. Glacial was born out of a direct encounter with the Matterhorn in the Alps of Switzerland. Staring right into I could see Glacial already taking form. I couldn’t wait to get back to the studio and create the wall sculpture I had seen in the face of the great mountain.

Through a deconstructive process, a photograph is broken down into individual aluminum composite tiles which are hand cut and placed over a welded metal frame on different elevations to create a 3D dynamic and harmonious composition. Each piece is hand created by the artist Karo Martirosyan in his studio in Los Angeles. With a background in architecture, the artist is influenced by the majestic power of nature, helping him build the structures, and using balance and color while imagining the story he wants to tell. The rear steel structure is primed and powder coated for maximum durability.
