Palampores, or "Tree of Life" patterns, have their origins in India, where the exotic designs were hand painted and mordant dyed, and exported to Europe and England for use as elaborate bed hangings and curtains. Pondicherry, now offered as a wallcovering, the colorways remain true to their 90's origins, highlighting the iconic filigree pattern amidst the exotic tree of life motif. The colorways were developed in 2015, with the filigree omitted from the fabric design. These wallcoverings and colorways remain true to the fabric's original design. Intricately detailed flowers and lush foliage accompanied by whimsical birds and playful squirrels add to its timeless appeal. The vertically branching print is perfect for a cozy breakfast nook, kitchen, or powder room.
Inspired by our hand-block printed fabric, Kelmscott Wallcovering's charming scenic design of English country life is freshly interpreted as a digitally printed grasscloth and rescaled for the story to read vertically for a wall-friendly layout. Its whimsical and scenic all-over pattern makes it a great option for libraries and bedrooms. This early twentieth-century design was discovered in an English archive including the original wood blocks cut in July 1924.

With impeccable attention to intricate details, the Palace damask is inspired by the handmade Venetian velvets created with hand-applied wooden printing blocks by ancient textile techniques in small workshops made famous by houses like Fortuny and Luigi Bevilacqua. Our inspiration comes from ancient Italian works of art and the rich cultural heritage of Renaissance Venice, the historical Venetian velvet arts, sumptuous patterned velvets, brocades, and damasks that adorn the walls of the city's grandest palaces and richest churches, covered tables, and upholstered furniture. Palace damask starts with true historical reference, pays homage and tribute to its origins, and to collectors who know the original work and then embarks on the artistic license, contemporary interpretation. Palace damask is bold, edgy, sumptuous, and both modern and timeless.

Arches supported by Baluster Pillars became popular in mid-17th-century Indian palaces during the reign of Shah Jahan. The form then spread throughout central and northern India, showing up in both residential and religious spaces. Embroidered on sisal, this wallcovering reproduces the elaborate details and shapes of the Museum's example. This captivating collection, created in collaboration with The Met, draws on artworks and objects from across nine of The Met’s 17 curatorial departments to create a rich mosaic of historical narratives. Each design is a celebration of artisanship, inspired by exquisite forms and cultural traditions. Following our first collaboration with The Met in the 1970s, we bring museum magic into the home once again in homage to history and the grand beauty of art.
