Shards of clear selenite encase a glass votive holder, which appears to float over a crystal base. Disclaimer: Selenite is a natural crystalline material. By its sheer nature, imperfections such as other mineral deposits, which may appear as colored sections or varying crystalline structures, are not only expected but indeed add to the beauty of the piece. The softness of selenite may result in the separation of sections of crystal, which can be reattached with the use of a clear adhesive.
This product design was inspired by a wooden fret detail found in the crown of a tall dresser in the Williamsburg Museum collection. The shape of the fret was reinterpreted in hand-forged iron. The Iron has a rich antique nickel finish. The metal back is the perfect balance for the enormous hand-blown hurricane.

I really loved the look of this online and had to wait months for it to be available. When it finally arrived, I was disappointed because the back layer of "blades" all had an abrupt bend instead of a smooth curve. I ordered another to compare. It was even worse. The blades were asymmetrical - they flared out on one side, but basically were straight up on the other. I packed that one up for return immediately (which was a pain - big box and you've never seen so many styrofoam peanuts). I may keep the original one. I'm trying to convince myself that the bends aren't too noticeable at a distance. I expected better from a Chelsea House product at this price. This is a nice piece, not super high quality. The metal, which sure doesn't seem like cast iron, is pretty thin. We bought all three sizes and found this one a bit too large to fit in with our decor. The collection is inspired by the beauty of a windswept palm tree and the perfectly imperfect shapes of woven palm leaves and fallen fronds. The warm antique gold finish and the intricate sculpted textures exude comfortable luxury and graciousness. "I was having lunch with friends on a veranda overlooking the sea when I looked down to the lawn and saw a fallen palm frond. The leaves were all twisted and curled, yet they stood out magnificently against the otherwise perfect landscape. It made me think of the passage of time, and the bountiful gifts of the palm tree, which provides everything from food to shelter."
A larger version of our cast aluminum antler centerpiece, this size has five votive cups, each 1.75" diameter, that can hold either real or flameless votive candles at varying heights. The antique gold finish makes this a year round centerpiece, but it can be spruced up for holiday dinner parties by adding fresh evergreen branches and pine cones to the base.
