"Stozzi" Stool. In the late 15th Century, guards in their suits of armor were unable to sit in regular chairs due to their inability to bend at the waist. This stool was designed to allow them to sit by straddling the stool, keeping their upper body erect, and bending at the knees. This authentic reproduction is made of solid walnut and has the coat of arms of the Stozzi family carved on its back.
