The Octopus Medium Vase is a decorative accessory handmade of stoneware by women artisans living at the border of Burma and Thailand. The process they used to create it is challenging and time-consuming. First, the vase is thrown by one artisan; then another artist works by hand to apply the octopus to the profile of the cream vase before it is hand-glazed and fired. The artful application and the dripping of the reactive blue glaze make each piece a one-of-a-kind objet-d'art with a strong French Mediterranean feel.

Inspired by the development of 20th-century art pottery during the 1940s, the Saint-Paul-de-Vence Large Vase is a nod to the great design experimentation going on at the time. This interpretation of that burgeoning creativity is made of terracotta that has been glazed in a matte black, over which the whimsical figure has been hand-painted in white.
