Made in Northern Peru using a classic batik process, the delicate vine motif is applied, then after firing, a paleta or wooden tool is used to gently remove it, revealing the raw clay below. In a Chulucanas tradition, the firing process involves smoked mango leaves, which has a resin that infuses the rich black pigment and shine.
