Phillips Collection
The Agate side table comes in many variations. The profile doesn't change but the personality of the tabletop does, as the assorted stone discs carry the unique veining inherent in each slice. Agate is characterized by its fine grain and bright color. It is most commonly found in volcanic rocks or ancient lavas where silica has melted and deposited in layers on the walls. We prize the biggest pieces and painstakingly slice them to highlight the unparalleled beauty of each piece, this stone side table is an example. Each of these reflects the ethos that Phillips Collection personifies: modern organic.
Petrified wood translates from Ancient Greek to “wood turned into stone.” Pieces of wood that would have normally been lost to time have been beautifully preserved and made stronger than ever as if fashioned by Lady Medusa herself. This natural wonder can take millions of years under the right conditions to create, and the Petrified wood side table is a dazzling piece of ancient history that you can display in your own home. This table is a shining example of the Phillips collection ethos: modern organic.
Astro Gallery of Gems
This beautiful hand-polished petrified wood table is sourced from Madagascar, features a 1" thick piece of genuine petrified wood, and stands 17.5" tall. It has an amazing pattern with vibrant hues of brown, yellow, and orange present throughout. This unique piece comes with a sturdy metal frame to support this heavy specimen. Fossilized petrified wood, which is also known as agatized wood, forms when a tree has died and silicon dioxide forms in place of the wood - that degrades until there is no wood left, only quartz. All of the organic matter becomes replaced by minerals, while much of the original structure, such as tree rings, is retained. The rainbow of colors is produced by impurities in the quartz, such as iron, carbon, and manganese. Most petrified wood on earth can be from 50 to 500 million years old. This piece comes with a certificate of authenticity.
The Skipping Stone Medium Gray Side Table is a traditional design that inspires nostalgia for the great era we now call Americana with a twist. It is made of wood in a gray stone finish. Round tables have rested next to sofas and chairs in American living rooms and dens since our country's great woodworkers began plying their trade. We simply chose a reclaimed piece of wood in an organic shape to increase the table's appeal. A design detail of note is the thinness of the forged metal legs, which contemporizes the design a bit.
