Based on an early 18th-century French document, Chinoise exotique is a grand design depicting Chinese figures hunting exotic Indian animals. This pattern is a classic example of the kinds of chinoiserie patterns developed for export to the European market in the early 1700s. These fabrics became so popular that France passed a law banning them from sale out of fear that they would collapse the French textile market.
Painterly details and document-inspired coloring convey a tranquil elegance in Shanghai’s classic chinoiserie scene. Originally introduced in the late 1990s, this classic pattern continues to thrive as a timeless favorite.

Originally designed in the 1940s for Gino of Capri restaurant, lovingly known as "Gino’s" by New Yorkers, Scalamandré restored the Zebras wallcovering in this Upper East Side institution in the 1970s after it was destroyed in a fire. Flora Scalamandré, a wife of Franco Scalamandré, freehanded the signature motif that would come to be known as the iconic Scalamandré Zebras design. Zebras feature an animated sketch of two Zebras prancing around politely placed arrows on top of a lively colored wallpaper. This playful design was an instant hit, quickly entering the line, and was soon after immortalized in films such as Wes Anderson’s "The Royal Tenenbaums” and Woody Allen’s "Mighty Aphrodite.” Zebras also made guest appearances across the country in Kate Spade and Barneys New York retail installations. Since then, the Zebras design has grown in the color offering, has expanded to fabric for both indoor and outdoor, and is available on various grounds such as vinyl wallcovering and grasscloth. Zebras have proven to be an industry favorite and beyond as it remains highly used, and highly recognized across the world.

Parlor Velvet is inspired by an 18th-century fauteuil, or armchair, originally intended for Marie-Antoinette's grand cabinet intérieur at Versailles. The armchair boasts finely brocaded and appliquéd silk with botanical motifs. A cotton-and-viscose velvet, this fabric uses a cut and uncut pile for both a shiny and matte effect that adds depth to the structured pattern.
