The Rug Company
The otherworldly yet ageless vision of Alexander McQueen has been captured in this dramatic floral design, translated in a meticulous Aubusson tapestry to faithfully portray the fine details. Chiaroscuro refers to the juxtaposition of light and dark, which in this case lends the motif of the rug an almost three-dimensional quality. Intricately woven, each color is expertly blended by hand to create an almost photographic effect. Limited edition of 40.
Handcrafted entirely in silk, Glasswings features a centralized pair of butterfly wings, highlighted in eau de nil. Accents of silver and gold shimmer across the design, creating a translucent illusion. Delicate, but strong, this rug will stand as a feature of its own.
Monarch Smoke is inspired by an exquisite hand-crafted butterfly from Sarah Burton's inaugural Folklore collection. In soft, smokey hues, it is handwoven in silk to capture the shimmering, hypnotic movement of this delicate motif.
Four Hands
Inspired by traditional Turkish textiles and patterns, a hand-knotted area rug is made from a beautiful blend of classic cotton and luxurious New Zealand wool, with unique, intricate motifs that seem to speak a story all their own. Following a technique and tradition dating back thousands of years, each hand-knotted rug can take two to three master weavers five to six weeks to complete, depending on the size and intricacy of each rug. Every hand-knotted rug is designed to wear beautifully over time, making them heirlooms to be passed down for generations.
A jute-blend area rug is power-loomed in Egypt. Each pattern is created from a high-quality scan of a vintage rug. A team of graphic designers then perfects the pattern and colors to closely resemble the original rug. The result: a textural and versatile piece that looks authentically antiqued.
Dover Rug & Home
The vintage rugs that inspired this piece were originally handwoven in the ancient city of Khotan and designed with wave and fret patterns or flowering vines along the borders. This take is made from a soft wool/cotton blend in neutral earth tones with an intricate motif that's been modernized, yet still seems to speak a story all its own.
Stickley
In the region of Anatolia in present-day Turkey, rug weaving can be traced as far back as 1272, when a visiting Marco Polo described remarkable carpets characterized by rich colors, warm tones, and extraordinary geometric patterns. This hand-knotted wool rug, crafted in India, shares those elements; its weave of dramatic dark and light tones pairs beautifully with any of Stickley's collections.
