Artist Sonia Noir was born and raised in the city of Los Angeles. She honed her basic skills using graphic programs and painting in her college art class. Sonia majored in graphic design. After completing her education, she worked with a company making manuals for a short time where she developed art digitally. This brought forth her passion for creating digital art and develop her illustrator skills. Drawing inspiration from nature, fashion, and architecture, Sonia enjoys expressing thoughts and emotions through her work. She especially focuses on color combinations. Sonia preferred mediums are watercolor, acrylic, colored pencils, and digital editing. In her free time, she enjoys playing the classical guitar and learning different languages. Sonia relishes immersing herself in the artistic community of Los Angeles to find her next muse.

Artist Commentary: Gestural, blue, green and, violet painting. I used several different tools to achieve different effects and the composition in this painting. I added many layers of paint, the scraped the paint away and added back onto it with wedges and large brushes. This method of working adds textures and depth to the work. Scraping away the paint added some light within the piece. I always listen to music when I work which helps add to the whole experience of painting and mark making. I also use song titles as they relate to the piece. This was inspired by David Bowie's "Sound and Vision"
