Elena Carlie was born in Romania, a country known for its rich cultural heritage and great natural beauty. At the age of 22, she moved to the United States where she expanded her horizons and grew as an artist. She has studied Fine arts since she was a child and currently holds a BFA in Graphic Design from the University of NH. “Art defines our humanity, freedom, and individuality. It is a way to articulate abstract thought and separates us from other life forms. Art is incredibly therapeutic for me, and foremost a strong passion. It’s not something I think about, but rather, something I feel”. Carlie finds inspiration everywhere. She strives to discover new ways of interpretation and sees this as a formula to remain fresh. It is a way of having fun while doing something that she loves. “To me, anything that can be manipulated can become an art medium”. “I love to work with watercolor paint, oil paint, acrylic paint, pencil, pen, and ink. However, the digital tools available today are pushing the limits of creativity and I find myself very involved with it”.

Martini Melody 1 is a black-and-white photograph that is a perfect metaphor for the era of jazz. An interplay of playful contrasts between light and shadow imbues this scene with a sense of nostalgia reminiscent of a cozy, underground jazz club. The viewer is invited to step into the frame, sit at the piano, pick up the martini, and contribute their notes to the setting. A beautiful composition reflects both the objects on display and the essence of the early 1900s in this original addition to Art by TA.

It's made in the USA from imported materials and printed on an archival canvas with primary hues of black and ivory. The handcrafted wooden frame is finished in a classic white for a crisp look that both complements and contrasts the interior painting. Best of all, it comes with hanging hardware included, so you can add it to your space almost as soon as it arrives.
