Drawn to the delicacy of pears, Sarah Bird paints fruit from a young tree arranged in a ceramic bowl. A poetic meditation on the everyday, the work is a study of the fruit's fragile beauty, telegraphed also by a chip in the bowl's edge. Formally balanced, simple yet masterful, the painting's atmosphere is one of quiet calm. Rendered in oil using 19th-century techniques, Bird's paintings recall classic European works while also evoking a spare, modern feel that offers space for contemplation.

The Natural Light
As the name implies, The Natural Light began by embracing natural materials and continues in this tradition. Knowing that fine design begins at home, the design team at The Natural Light is passionate about the relaxed luxury of our high-end lighting and art. From blueprint to each hand-finished product is a journey we make with great care and pride.
Artist Commentary: "Pair of Pears" started as a 100 stroke exercise where I allow myself 100 strokes to complete a painting. This is a great way to stay loose and not add too much detail. I was probably at around stroke 30 when I completely got in the zone and forgot to keep counting! I'll definitely need to do this again but may rely on someone to actually keep count for me next time :)
Chelsea Art Studio
Artist Zoey Riley was born to very conservative and traditional parents, who did not support her interest in fine arts. Zoey pursued her passion for fine art secretly as an adolescent, due to her parent's restrictions, and used the art she viewed in galleries as her tutor. As soon as she was of age, she fled her hometown to live in New York City in order to be closer to a fast-paced environment, concentrated with art galleries. Zoey used everything around her to draw inspiration, from the street signs to the dancers seen through the windows of dance studios. After taking in all she could from the modern New York art scene, Zoey made her move to San Francisco, where she could expand her skills and be a part of the culture-filled scene. Today, she resides in Southern California, still searching for the experience that will take her to the next level.
Chelsea Art Studio is comprised of local artists producing high-quality art right here in the USA. Inspired by the world and people around us, our artists take from the beauty they observe and transform that into art that connects with us all. Our collections of uniquely inspiring art make for the perfect addition to any home.
