Artist Adam Mowery is an adventurer and creative thinker who constantly pushes life to the limits. He will never be caught in the "status quo." To Adam, creativity is a lifestyle, not just a means to an end. Adam believes there is good to be found in everything, and that belief is constantly reflected in his work. For Adam, it's not what we have, it's what we do with it that matters. To him, light, whether natural or artificial, is a language to portray an emotion or statement in a way words never could. From staged to spontaneous, his photography evokes genuine beauty from every angle.

Raised in Los Angeles, California, D’Alessandro was the youngest of three brothers. When art the competition was a form of play for the brothers, it later grew to his obsession. D’Alessandro attended the Art Institute of California where he explored mixing mediums as well as digital. He also attended Illustration, Sculpting, and Fine Art workshops in Fullerton Ca. After spending long periods of time studying different techniques, D’Alessandro's art became increasingly influenced by artists from the early 1900s. During D’Alessandro’s studies, he painted many different themes. He painted with restless intensity, often painting from morning until night. D’Alessandro was able to indulge his earliest artistic preferences for people, nature, architecture, and landscapes in his illustration and personal pieces. He also painted family, friends, and gardens. He has done commissioned work for a variety of clients in music, publishing, and editorial. His work has been exhibited in numerous private and public collections.

Artist Commentary: Portrait of a Bear" is the first of a series of my fascinating new subject, the bear. I have great admiration for the bear and consider them an excellent totem animal, so I find them to be great to paint. I first layered and glued squares and rectangles of handmade papers onto the entire canvas to begin this painting. You can still see this textured pattern under the layers of colors. I love the textures you can get from this technique. My palette for this piece is predominately blue/green, accented with iridescent gold. Finally, I added a bit of white on the snout of the bear for the focal point. I was inspired to capture the soulful and maybe even sad expression on the bear's face, which for me, evokes an emotional response and understanding of the bear.
