Lalique
As festive occasions shared with family and friends are privileged moments, Lalique's creations celebrate the art of living, the values of sharing, and the sense of conviviality. The new Lotus barware collection pays tribute to the spiritual value of the lotus and water. The satin-finished motifs are carved into crystals whose purity echoes that of the sacred flower or water. Designed for any type of drink, the four tumblers to mixing and match exhibit finesse and style. A prominent flower in Buddhist, Hindu, and Egyptian cultures, the lotus is considered a sacred flower, holding great symbolic value. With a wondrous ability to dip into the mud and revive unscathed, the lotus symbolizes spiritual enlightenment and rebirth. It is therefore often represented alongside divine figures, sitting on lotus thrones. Across human cultures, water has been used to communicate the sacred value of life; the spiritual dimension of purification, protection, and healing. Considered spiritual figureheads, the lotus, and water are also emblematic of serenity and unwavering faith within oneself, ensuring the most beautiful revivals.
The “Wingen” barware service is named after the village in Alsace where the Lalique Manufacture has been perpetuating its exceptional know-how. René Lalique had already designed a stemware service with the same name in the 1920s, with a similar pattern. Displayed in a rhythmic rigor, the graphic lines in satin-finished crystal - emblematic of Lalique – exhibit a timeless elegance.
Michael Aram
Michael Aram's Rock collection is inspired by jagged-edged stone formations as seen through the combined lenses of Rock and roll glam, cubism, and Art Deco. The collection feels very new while referencing past cultural and artistic movements and follows the artist's love of incorporating natural forms into the home. "This collection conjures up many different moods for me. The finish feels decadent while the faceted forms are simple and clean. The result is a bold design that I feel reflects an elegant lifestyle that is edgy, fashionable, and modern."
In 1994, the Owl, a mythical bird symbolizing wisdom, inspired Lalique to create two tumblers featuring strong, structured lines. In 1995, a decanter is added to the range, with a very original shape and crystal owl stopper. Evoking the antique "bas-reliefs" style, the owl motif in satin-finished crystal set against a contrasting shimmering background of swirling crystal waves, curves around each glass and decanter. A truly technical masterpiece, the intricate frieze, worked in relief gives these creations great depth not seen in such work before, and demonstrates once again the tremendous savoir-faire of the Lalique glass-makers.
LIULI Crystal Art
In this homage to the sacred and age-long ritual of drinking, four glasses, each unique in their own right - are sculpted with the classic motifs of the “four gentlemen”. They are, by classic literature, the anthropomorphic representation of each season of the year, each unique and beautiful in its own right. Winter is represented by the violet plum blossom; autumn by the Chrysanthemum; the summer by bamboo; and the freshness of spring by the delicate orchid. In “A Drink to Virtue,” the seasons are celebrated in the ritual of drinking.
“Beautiful yet functional” is how internationally acclaimed wine critic James Suckling describes the 100 Points collection. With a name referring to the wine scoring system, 100 Points is a hand-made collection that embraces a modern design and precise utility while exemplifying the established style of Lalique: crystal fashioned by the best glass-masters, “U” shaped bowl and distinctive frosted rib stem to obtain the characteristic contrast of clear and satin-finish. The 100 Points Burgundy glass is excellent with aromatic reds such as Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Nebbiolo.
