Glass beads have been made for centuries throughout Africa. Using a technique that has been handed down from generation to generation, our makers begin by compressing glass into a dry grain, and heating the grain so that the pieces form together. The recycled glass is rushed into a porcelain cast. The stem of a cassava leaf is used to make the hole. The beads are baked in a furnace causing the glass to melt together and cassava stem to burn, leaving only the grainy textured "sandglass" bead behind. Our makers are members of Ghana's Krobo Tribe in Western Africa. Beads have played an important role in the cultural life of many communities throughout the Continent of Africa, and remain to this day a symbol of wealth and a form of currency.

This luxurious sculpture is a bold pairing of two natural elements that make for a wildly chic accent piece. The natural horn has a matte finish and is distinctive when paired with its brass base, transforming it into a sculptural art piece.

Boasting gold blossom-like accents this piece is a forward-thinking work of art. Placed on top of the crystal base completes the glamorous look. For added elegance, a single tapered candle can be inserted into the center of the flower to illuminate your space.
This piece is gorgeous! I actually bought 2. The flowers are mounted on an acrylic square which makes them pretty heavy. However, I bought them with a plan to take the flowers off the acrylic squares and mount them on our powder room cabinet doors as door pulls. We are still building, so I will not be able to submit photos at this point.. Kelly. Madison, MS. 2024-03-15 20:58:59

The Rue de Bac butterflies are lovely encased specimens made of blue paper with black accents displayed within a clear glass dome. Sitting atop a wood base in a black finish. Named for the Parisian street on which a famous French taxidermy is located, the artful butterflies that flutter in this sculpture would feel right at home in a cabinet of curiosities that holds some remarkable wonders of nature.

Juju hats originate from the Bamileke people near Cameroon in West Africa. Traditionally worn by village chiefs during important ceremonies, the hat color and size project status and wealth. Each hat is constructed entirely by hand from natural or dyed bird feathers which are carefully hand sewn onto a raffia base using traditional methods. The raffia sticks are arranged into a circle, which expands outward when opened. These sought-after hats are available in various colors. Our 20" diameter hat is presented on a metal display stand for maximum exposure and versatility.

A naturally elegant accent for your collection, this sustainably sourced African kudu horn is cleaned, polished, and presented with a stainless steel rod on an acrylic base. We love it displayed on a shelf or mantel, either on its own or grouped with similar pieces. Due to the use of natural materials, each piece is unique and may vary slightly from the image shown.
