Astro Gallery of Gems
From Pamir Mountains, Badakshan, Afghanistan. Beautiful gemmy purple Scapolite crystal on feldspar matrix. Scapolite crystals have excellent color and luster. The specimen contains a beautiful standing position.
Crinoids, also known as sea lilies, are members of the Echinodermata phylum along with starfish and sea urchins. This Crinoid fossil is from Morocco. They have the appearance of graceful underwater flowers. They are among the oldest fossils known in the world, dating all the way back to the Ordovician period, or 450 million years ago.
Large 2.5 inch metallic lustrous cubic Spanish Pyrite crystal on matrix. This specimen has sharp, well-defined terminations where the crystal faces are smooth with a metallic mirror luster. This Pyrite is from Victoria Mine, Navajún, La Rioja, Spain, and is in pristine condition.
Trilobites, an early arthropod relative of spiders, horseshoe crabs, and scorpions, preserved in this level of detail only occurred as a result of very sudden underwater landslides called turbidite sequences, which ravaged the early earth when the continents were still very much on the move. The contorted body positions of the trilobites demonstrate a final fight against being buried alive.Notice the many eye facets present on this example. The Asteropyginae recently have undergone revision. This one has been known in the past as Metacanthina, an entirely different trilobite. This one has many fine details present, including pustules on the genals. This one has been prepared in a reflexed position, making a striking display.Middle Divonian: 400 MYOWeight: 1.7 lbs, Dimension: 5 x 1.5 x 4 inches
Natural trilobite on its original fossil matrix. The Asaphid trilobites include some of the most extreme trilobite adaptations known, and the group produced some of the largest trilobites ever. Asaphus intermedius is known for its highly stalked compound eyes. This adaptation becomes even more apparent in its stark contrast to the lack of ornamentation over the rest of the animal's body. This is because Asaphus was a response to new predatory threats: instead of swimming away, these trilobites buried themselves in the sand.*You will receive the exact object in these photosSpecies: Asaphus LepidurusAge: Middle Divonian: 360 MYOLocation: Emsian, Middle Devonian, Taharajat, Djebel Oufaten, Atlas Mountains, MoroccoWeight: 389 grams, Size: 4 x 2 x 4 inches

This is a beautiful trilobite (Zlichovaspis rugosa) from Atchana, Morocco. It is laid out nice and prone with excellent detail including visible eye facets in both eyes.Trilobites are an extinct class of marine arthropods that thrived for nearly 270 million years, from the early Cambrian to the end of the Permian period (around 521 to 252 million years ago). They are one of the most successful and diverse groups in the history of life. Known for their distinctive, segmented exoskeletons, trilobites provide invaluable insights into the evolutionary history of arthropods and the dynamics of ancient marine ecosystems.Weight: 1.5 lbs, Size: 6.5 x 2 x 4 inches
An ineradicable, large Crotalocephalina gibba, Crotalocephalina trilobite is an extinct genus of trilobite in the order Phacopida found in Morocco. Typically these trilobites have eyes low down on the sidesof the sephalon, a large bulbous glabella, and dagger-like projections on the ends of the pleura.Species: Crotalocephalina TrilobiteAge: Middle Divonian: 360 MYOLocation: Emsian, Middle Devonian, Taharajat, Djebel Oufaten, Atlas Mountains, MoroccoWeight: 1.4 lbs, Size: 5 x 2.5 x 4 inches

Psychopyge elegans is a trilobite species from the Devonian Hamar Laghdad deposits near Alnif, Morocco. It is a member of the Order Phacopida. The species is known for its strange shovel-like protrusion off the anterior of the cephalon (head), which has been suggested to be used to root up food from the prehistoric ocean floor. This is one of the most famous members of the trilobites' most famous family, the Phacopida, known for their huge compound eyes. Psychopyge is defined by an extremely long appendage at the end of the nose. Speculation as to this adaptation ranges from selection to a burrowing appendage.Age: Upper Devonian: 400-380 MYO Location: Alnif, Morocco.Weight: 1.2 lbs, Dimensions: 5 x 1.5 x 4 inches
