For over four decades, he has created and explored glass sculptures in which stairs are the lifeblood, the bearing element of the glass. A cube, a little house, a staircase – from these three simple shapes (and a few colors), Bertil Vallien generates an anecdote that sets something in motion, not only a desire to dash up and down stairs…Fortress Stairs is part of Bertil Vallien’s anniversary collection, “Bertil Vallien: 60 Years with Kosta Boda” (1963–2023), and is handmade at Kosta Glassworks in Sweden with details in real 21-karat gold.

Only the viewer who has spent considerable time observing their own glass knows whether this ancient myth aligns with reality… My Palace Home is part of Bertil Vallien’s anniversary collection, “Bertil Vallien: 60 years with Kosta Boda” (1963–2023), and is crafted at the Kosta Glassworks in Sweden.

With a background as a professional rock guitarist, musical influences play a large part in Kjell Engman's work. The Swedish glass artist has created Fidji, an object of multiple colors merged into one whose shape bears a resemblance to the musical instrument organ pipe.
