Lladro
On the occasion of the celebration of its 60th anniversary, Lladró introduced a new ornament from a selection of its most cherished pieces. One of those chosen for the occasion was this dance. With its intense reds and blacks on the stunning white of the dress, this piece updates a theme always present in Lladró work, bestowing it with fresh, modern air.
Glossy porcelain sculpture of a woman dancing flamenco in a red and black dress with a flower on her head.
Flamenco represents a style of dance from the south of Spain, flamenco dancing in a long-tailed dress, or bata de cola. An art that has transcended national borders and that since 2010 has been designated an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The bata de cola is rarely seen on today's stages, due to the difficulty of its handling, the cost of its preparation, and its incompatibility with some of the current styles or schools of dance. It appeared during the second half of the 18th century in Granada and was made of white calico, to a specific length. In the first quarter of the twentieth century, the use of the bata de cola became a compulsory feature of shows, thanks to Pastora Imperio and Antonia Mercé. The bata continues to be used to this day, granting its wearer the reputation of a genuine professional. In this piece, the expression and movement of the arms and hands of the dancers are as much the focal points as the way in which the woman moves the long tail of her spectacular dress. With a shiny porcelain finish, the woman's hair is adorned with a red rose to match the earrings and ruffles of the bata de cola.

This nickel-plated sculpture has a mesmerizing effect of a ribbon dance.
Love the piece, but it arrived somewhat damaged. The metal is not secured ( loose) on the white base and there is a discolored mark on the metal.. Richard. Hastings-on-Hudson, NY. 2025-03-24 21:06:48

With arms lifted overhead, partners place a hand on each other's waist and perform a graceful dance. The little couple forms an abstract knot with their slender bodies. George Obeng carves the beautiful piece from cedar wood and gives it a rich brown finish.
Signature III
Our figural male dancer sculpture tells the story of overcoming feats of grace and strength. Made out of aluminum with a textured gold finish and a lacquer coating this piece fully captures the human spirit.
Lladró has taken inspiration from the opening music to the legendary musical Chicago, by Bob Fosse, to create one of the most vibrant pieces in the catalog. A sculpture decorated in the most vibrant colors of the palette: intense blacks, chic purples, sophisticated makeup, and the reddish hue of the dancer's hair, giving it a bold look. But if anything truly embodies this dance form, it's the movements of the dancers: the torso, legs, arms, hands, and shoulders; the whole body conveys emotion in a piece that invites us to get up on the dance floor.
