Glass beads have been made for centuries throughout Africa. Using a technique that has been handed down from generation to generation, our makers begin by compressing glass into a dry grain, and heating the grain so that the pieces form together. The recycled glass is rushed into a porcelain cast. The stem of a cassava leaf is used to make the hole. The beads are baked in a furnace causing the glass to melt together and cassava stem to burn, leaving only the grainy textured "sandglass" bead behind. Our makers are members of Ghana's Krobo Tribe in Western Africa. Beads have played an important role in the cultural life of many communities throughout the Continent of Africa, and remain to this day a symbol of wealth and a form of currency.
This is the opaque color beads. Absolutely gorgeous! Beautiful art sculpture. Well-made unique. Love it!. Patti. Greenwell Springs, LA. 2022-09-13 18:35:00

Napa Home and Garden
Abstracted, but still rather lifelike. This pair of hounds make great company. Set on a desk or arrange in a bookshelf. Great conversation starters.

This set of three hounds stands alert, ready for a signal from their master. A regal accent for library, study or desk adding character and style.
Mercana
Based on an industrial-inspired design, the Enos is a spectacular decorative object featuring four bowls suspended from a central beam. With an all-metal body that is complemented by its gunmetal grey finish, the Enos looks great in spaces based on the Industrial or Mercana Modern design styles.
Maitland-Smith
Variegated shell inlaid brass butterfly paper clip on black stone inlaid base.
A 3-dimensional modern interpretation of the scribble, this sculpture is inherently organic. Made of solid aluminum and finished in a light gold, a unique accent for the contemporary space.
Lunares by Nima Oberoi
Antique aluminum finish
Beautiful piece! Though since I have it placed on a mirrored surface, it would be nice to not have a price sticker on the bottom which will not come off, even with goo gone.. Michele. Potomac, MD. 2022-08-08 12:26:32
The Tony Duquette Studios are located in Los Angeles, California. The company was founded in 1941 by the late American design icon Tony Duquette. As a young man, Tony Duquette created costumes and sets for Fred Astaire's musicals with Vincente Minnelli at MGM. In his eighties, he was creating unique fine jewelry for Tom Ford. In between Duquette created acclaimed costumes and sets for theater, opera, and ballet, his costumes for the original Broadway production of Camelot having garnered him the prestigious Tony Award for Best Costume. The Tony Duquette Studios were also responsible for a myriad of custom interiors for both residential and commercial installations throughout America and Europe. Tony Duquette was a well-known painter, sculptor, and jeweler. His talents as an artist were recognized throughout his life in a series of one-man museum exhibitions across the globe. Most notably in 1951, Duquette was selected by the Louvre Museum in Paris to represent the decorative arts of the middle of the 20th century, the first American ever to have been so honored. Tony Duquette died on September 9th, 1999 after a lifetime of awards and honors. Today the Tony Duquette Studios continue creating custom interiors, fine jewelry, and decorative home products for a discriminating clientele worldwide under the direction of Hutton Wilkinson who has been Tony Duquette’s business partner since 1972.
