Michael Aram
The Orchid collection celebrates the ethereal spirit of the orchid plant. Symbolic of purity and grace, this collection captures the delicate nature of orchids while also expressing a quality of mystery and sensuality. "There is something so captivating about orchids. Rendered with white enamel over golden brass, each bloom glistens with a quiet vibrance. The elegant composition of finishes creates a perfect balance, evoking a feeling of subtle luxury. Each stem feels so delicate and weightless, belying the fact that the pieces are forged in metal and anchored in marble, crafted to last an eternity." - Michael Aram.
This Molten collection set takes its inspiration from the lore of ancient craftsmanship and the application of these time-honored techniques to modern shapes and environments. It also strives to represent the clean lines and minimal atmosphere associated with the ideals of contemporary life and progressive design. Intricately hand-welded edges make each piece an individual work of art, with no two pieces being identical. "The Molten collection represents a way of living, which I love - streamlined, timeless shapes ... objects which reverberate with the skill of their maker and yet do not fit into a traditional interpretation of craft. For me, the pieces possess a soulfulness and organic energy only possible through the handmade process. Each piece of Molten is made by a craftsman dropping individual welds along the edge of the object, not for the function of joinery but for the beauty and spontaneous quality that molten metal can create."
The Tulip collection celebrates rebirth as the ground begins to thaw and new life flourishes. Inspired by the feathery petals of the parrot tulip, each petal ripples as if the flower is about to take flight. Symbolic of perfect love, these expressive blooms tell a story of life: passion, grace, and new beginnings. The Tulip collection features elaborate sculptures in a modern, lyrical way. The white enamel and gold finish reflects the effect of light and shadow that caress each flower as the world begins to wake. "I've grown up with tulips in my garden since I was a child, and still enjoy the surprise of them as a first sign of spring. The image of their stems forcing through the dirt and eventually bowing under the weight of their heavy-headed blooms is something I find so precious and beautiful." - Michael Aram.
The Cast Iron collection takes its inspiration from the uniquely striking textures created by the iron forging process. Random and abrupt yet exquisitely tactile, this pattern depicts the spirit seen in so much of Michael's metalwork. The design is also carefully crafted in terms of color and surface detail to integrate perfectly with any of Michael's other dinnerware patterns. The unified body shapes used in all of the motifs make mixing and matching the patterns a seamless proposition. "My love for texture is profoundly expressed in this pattern. Cast Iron is the most elemental material yet the surface has always held such fascination for me. I find it gruff and even gently abrasive. I love the idea of bringing that inspiration into a Limoges dinnerware pattern, releasing all the formal constraints we usually associate with that world."
The Bark & Branch collection takes its inspiration from the intricacies of form and texture found in foliage from around the world. By interpreting plant forms in cast metal, Michael presents work that is evocative of a natural environment, transformed and redefined. Each piece is an intimate expression of Michael's individual creativity as well as an object of infinite and timeless meaning. "For me, the shapes conjure a sense of freshness and fragility. At the same time, the textures represent a metaphor for life itself – growth, vitality, and pulsation. Everybody has an emotional response when they see natural objects. They are part of all of us. What I enjoy about these pieces is that in a way they are 'slices' of nature, small vignettes of the forest. It is fascinating to imagine the outside world infiltrating my interior spaces as if the room is being gently consumed by nature."
The Twist collection is inspired by the idea that the whole can be far greater than the sum of its parts. When elements are combined, they take on another feeling, greatness. Together, they are strong, but also I would argue, more beautiful. When lines are repeated, or wires are woven, there is a loveliness to the pattern that fascinates and pleases. Asymmetry is created that is calming and classical.
This is as beautiful as it appears. Heavy but not bulky.. BABS. GULFPORT, MS. 2021-07-01 14:01:50

Georg Jensen
With its classic good looks and distinctive deep grooved decoration, the Bernadotte collection of cutlery has stood the test of time and remains the epitome of sophistication. Originally designed in 1936, this stainless steel five-piece set brings a sense of elegance to any mealtime. By birth a prince in the Swedish royal family, Sigvard Bernadotte became one of Georg Jensen’s earliest design stars. Greatly influenced by the prevailing Functionalist movement, he introduced a more minimalist and practical aesthetic to the house which paved the way for mid-century modernism.
