I used it for the first time to make red lentil flour, and it really does do well! The blade is designed in such a way to pull down the unmilled pieces through the middle so that everything gets evenly ground up. I love it!

I loved using this for fresh nut butters, grinding grains and corn but have to say I'm very disappointed that mine cracked at the bottom.

I purchased the grain canister to replace my mill. I mill wheat for flour to make breads and other items. My mill was over 10 years old and starting to show its age. With the grain canister, I do not need a separate appliance. It takes up less space and grinds the grain just as effectively as my mill.

I bought the dry grains container specifically to make flour from wheatberries. There are a lot of reasons to avoid store bought flour, and there are a lot of ways to make flour at home. I already had and adored the Vitamix, so I thought, why not add this to my arsenal? But immediately upon using the dry grains container for my wheatberries, I noticed that it started to look textured on the bottom third of the container. Look at the photo below. This texture is happening because as the grains knock into the inside walls of the container, they make tiny dents / chips in the plastic. I am nervous that microplastics are entering my food because of this. I am a loyal Vitamix user and always tell people to get a Vitamix 5200 as opposed to Ninja or other lesser blenders. The 32-ounce Dry Grains Container is the only thing that makes me pause and say, "...but there is this issue with the plastic pockmarking and potentially releasing plastic particles into your food." I don't have this problem with the regular container. For making flour from wheatberries, I do not recommend this product and instead would urge you to spend the money on a home mill, which I will be doing ASAP.
