Functionally the filing cabinet is fine. However, it is quite damaged. There is a hole and two creases/dents on the left side of the cabinet, and there is a separation between the top of the cabinet and the left side of the cabinet. There is also a hole in the back of the cabinet. Lastly the cabinet is not well balanced and wobbles. This is a very expensive filing cabinet and based on how well it was packaged I believe it was shipped out damaged. I do not think the damage occurred in transport. I would normally have given it 1 star, but I gave it 2 ONLY because your customer service was very helpful and is sending someone out to make repairs to my satisfaction, and if I am not fully satisfied I will be sending back. I would encourage Perigold to contact the manufacturer, because American Heartland Manufacturing clearly needs to improve upon their quality control department.

This 4 drawer file cabinet is quite attractive. This is why a gave it 1 star. The reason I did not give it any more is because when it arrived there was no visible external damage but when I opened it I found that the drawers were not looking centered. I found that 3 of the drawer supports had come loose. A 4th came loose when I removed the drawer to check it. I am currently repairing the cabinet. It is attractive but they don't build it well enough to be transported. It's pretty sad to spend over a grand on a file cabinet and have to repair it. It is shipped wrapped with a bunch of pieces of cardboard wrapped in plastic wrap. I have no idea how you would repack it to ship it back. You will need someone that is pretty handy to repair it if it shows up like mine did.
