have used the basic waiters corkscrew for 10 years and loved it so decided to upgrade to the more expensive one with the woooden handle. The worm does not go into the cork like the basic model. The point is just a little flat and requires a vigorous and strong push to get it into the cork, and upon twisting it then chews the cork into bits. Not pleased with this (more expensive) choice. Marcel Wanders gives this corkscrew the form of a lively, jumping jester bedecked in a multicolored diamond costume. Produced in the Alessi factory in Crusinallo di Omegna, this is an object sculpture to be collected, dedicated to true connoisseurs of the applied arts.

Also known as 'The Butler's Friend', it enables one to remove the cork without damaging it and can also be used to re-cork the bottle. One of the early designs found is from nineteenth century France with a handle and steel prongs. This version is designed with a bright pewter handle and two steel prongs. The handle carries the fluted theme of the range and its fan-like shape makes it easy to grip for better control. The extractor is kept in a pewter sheath to protect the steel prongs and this sheath is perfect for engraving.
